However, his achievements are not only limited to Yoga, his works are also foundational in Sanskrit grammar and Ayurveda. Yoga: The Yoga Sutras The Yoga Sutras is a comprehensive collection of 196 aphorisms (sutras) on Yoga—the practice of meditating the mind on the Atma, finally resulting in self-realization. It outlines the philosophy of Yoga and methods to apply this philosophy in life. Grammar: The Mahabashya The Mahabhashya, literally the Great Commentary, is a text on Panini's Ashtadhyayi. Ashtadhyayi is a central text on Sanskrit grammar written by the ancient Sanskrit scholar Panini. Patanjali's work provide detailed analysis and clarification on Panini's grammar rules. Ayurveda: The Charakpratisamskrita The Charakpratisamskrita is the revision of Charaka Samhita, the central text on Ayurveda. This text is now lost. Patanjali Shloka The Patanjali shloka captures the three-fold contributions of Patanjali to humankind. This invocation is recited before learning and practicing Yoga.
