Ministry of AYUSH has launched the Ayush Suraksha as a comprehensive IT platform to effectively document all the suspected Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and capture all the Objectionable Advertisements (OAs) / Misleading Advertisements (MLAs). It is to serve as a vigilant watchtower against misleading advertisements and ensure that only safe and credible products reach the people. Portal overview The portal is aligned with the National Pharmacovigilance Program. It allows consumers, healthcare professionals, and regulatory authorities to report and monitor misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions through a seamless digital process. The system integrates multiple authorities, including the Ayush vertical under Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Central Consumer Protection Authority, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, National Commission for Homoeopathy, Pharmacy Council of India, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and State Licensing Authorities, ensuring coordinated response and enforcement. Who can report adverse drug reaction Any health care professional including doctors, nurses, pharmacists can report the ADRs. Patients can report through their Physician/ Medical Faculty Member. It can be reported as soon as the health professional suspects that drug/ therapy has resulted in a negative, unintended effect. The suspected ADRs can be reported to the designated structures of Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centers (PPvCs) and Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centers (IPvCs) available across the country. How to report misleading advertisements Any individual can submit complains related to misleading/objectionable advertisements. Any advertisement or promotion through Television, Radio, or any other electronic media, Newspapers, Banners, Posters, Handbills, wall-writing etc. to misrepresent the nature, characteristics, qualities or geographic origin of goods, services or commercial activities to mislead the consumer could be broadly defined as a misleading advertisement. An objectionable advertisement refers to any promotional content that is misleading, deceptive to consumers.
