Background Urolithiasis (Mutrashmari) is the condition where stones are formed or located anywhere in the urinary system. Urinary stones are typically classified by their location or by their chemical composition (calcium containing, struvite, uric acid, or other compounds). Main symptom is the pain most commonly felt in the flank, lower abdomen and groin. Renal colic can be associated with nausea, vomiting, fever, blood or pus in the urine and painful urination. In Ayurveda a number of drugs are mentioned to treat Mutrashmari. Intervention/ Approaches The following are some interventions based on CCRAS research from published sources. Small stones associated with burning micturition: Palasha (Butea monosperma) Kshara - lgm thrice daily for 60 days. For all types of urinary stones including large stones: Pashana Bheda ( Bergenia ciliata) - lgm tablet thrice daily for 60 days. Gokshuru (Tribulus terrestris) K.waiha Ghana Satwa Vati - lgm thrice daily for 60 days. Large stones associated with urinary tract infection and dysuria: Shweta Parpati - lgm thrice daily along with 50ml Pashanabheda (Bergenia ciliata)-Gokshuru (Tribulus terrestris) Kwatha. Small stones associated with urinary tract infection with or without dysuria: Shweta Parpati - lgm thrice daily with 50ml Kulattha (Dolichos biflorus) Kwatha (prepared from 50gm powder). Large stones associated with urinary tract infection: Shweta Parpati - lgm thrice daily with Pashanabheda (Bergenia ciliata), Gokshuru (Tribulus terrestris), Kulattha (Dolichos biflorus) Kwatha 50ml (prepared from 2gm powder each).
